Volunteers are essential in providing daily care for the animals. They may be asked to walk the dogs, play with the cats, fold newsletters, sell raffle tickets, create posters, photograph the pets, help at a special event, clean the trails, shovel snow or mow the lawn, bathe a dog, or even foster a litter of kittens.

Volunteers MUST be 16 years of age or older.
Please remember that the availability of volunteer slots varies and we try to place volunteers when and where they are most needed. If there are no jobs available to match your interests or current availability, we will contact you when there is an opening.

All volunteers must attend volunteer orientation, safe animal handling training, and fill out a volunteer application prior to volunteering.

To volunteer, please print and fill out a Volunteer Application here.

Please send your completed application to Lisa Sihvonen-Binder, Volunteer Coordinator. You may mail it to DPVHS, 163 Montague Rd., Leverett. MA 01054, or may e-mail it to lsihvonen-binder@dpvhs.org, she will be glad to contact you once your application is received.

SOME FINAL THOUGHTS ABOUT VOLUNTEERING

Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society volunteer touches the lives of many people and animals. The diversity of jobs that are available for volunteers coupled with self-enrichment and social rewards makes our volunteers some of the most dedicated in the Pioneer Valley.

As a Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society volunteer, you can contribute to the community and enhance the quality of life for yourself and animals in the community. One of the greatest benefits of volunteering at the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society is knowing that you are part of a team providing care to so many animals and their families. You will soon come to realize just how valuable you are to the animals and to the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society.

All volunteers are required to be 16 years of age or older. We ask that you make a six-month commitment to the volunteer program.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST!  WE APPRECIATE OUR VOLUNTEERS AND HOPE TO SEE YOU VOLUNTEERING AT DPVHS SOON.
