Why should I be a foster parent?

ö    Share your home with special animals in need of tender loving care.

ö    Enjoy the benefits of having a pet with out the long term financial and time commitment.

ö    Get to enjoy the antics of kittens without contributing to pet overpopulation by

allowing your own cats to breed.

ö    Know that you are helping save animals’ lives!

What do foster parents do?

Foster parents take orphaned or injured animals into their own home.

They provide love, food, and rehabilitation until the animal is old enough or well enough to return to the Humane Society for adoption.

Most foster parents help care for the overwhelming flood of kittens each spring and summer.  Some parents specialize in bottle-feeding orphans while others can host mother cats with their litters.

We often ask foster parents to spend time socializing feral kittens until they are friendly enough to meet their permanent adopters.

Cats suffering from upper respiratory infections (kitty colds) get better much faster in a loving foster

home than in the Humane Society.

There is an occasional need for foster homes for puppies, elderly dogs who do not do well in the kennel

environment, or injured dogs in need of rehabilitation.
