Leverett Adoption Center:

HOURS: Sat/Sun 12-4:30*, Mon, Tues**, Wed, Fri 12-5:30, Thurs 12-7:30 

*please note that every 3rd Tuesday of the month our facility will be closed all day for staff training.

*Please notice the change to our weekend hours at the Adoption Center in Leverett. The Adoption Center will be opening one hour later beginning August 30th. The new hours are Noon to 4:30pm Saturday and Sunday. We apologize for any inconvenience. This change allows us to continue to provide excellent care to the animals.

FROM AMHERST: Take Route 63 North Look for blue highway directional sign directing you right onto Depot Road. Follow the signs for Dakin Animal Shelter (you値l make a few turns, but there will always be signs). The shelter is located 1.5 miles past the Leverett Post Office, on the right side of road.

FROM NORTHAMPTON: Take Route 9 East towards Amherst. Take Route 116 north (left turn in front of Staples). In Sunderland, you will see a blue highway directional sign telling you to turn right on Bull Hill Road. At the end of Bull Hill Road, turn left onto Route 63. Take an immediate right onto Depot Road. Follow the signs for Dakin Animal Shelter (you値l make a few turns, but there will always be signs). The shelter is located 1.5 miles past the Leverett Post Office, on the right side of road.

HEADING NORTH ON I-91: Take Exit 19 (Route 9 East) toward Amherst/Hadley. Take Route 116 north (left turn in front of Staples). In Sunderland, you will see a blue highway directional sign telling you to turn right on Bull Hill Road. At the end of Bull Hill Road, turn left onto Route 63. HEADING SOUTH ON I-91: Take Exit 24 (South Deerfield). Turn left at the end of the exit onto Routes 5/10. At first light turn right onto Route 116 South through Sunderland. Go approximately 2 miles past Sunderland center and look for a blue highway directional sign telling you to turn left onto Bull Hill Road. At the end of Bull Hill Road, turn left onto Route 63. Take an immediate right onto Depot Road. Follow the signs for Dakin Animal Shelter (you値l make a few turns, but there will always be signs). FROM GREENFIELD/TURNERS FALLS: Take 2A East into Millers Falls Take Route 63 South. Look for blue highway directional sign telling you to turn left onto Montague Road. Go 1.5 miles, shelter is on left side of road, right after Rattlesnake Gutter Road.

FROM SUNDERLAND/SO. DEERFIELD: Take 116 South through Sunderland Center. Go approximately 2 miles past town center. Go approximately 2 miles past Sunderland center and look for a blue highway directional sign telling you to turn left onto Bull Hill Road. At the end of Bull Hill Road, turn left onto Route 63. Take an immediate right onto Depot Road. Follow the signs for Dakin Animal Shelter (you値l make a few turns, but there will always be signs). The shelter is located 1.5 miles past the Leverett Post Office, on the right side of road.

FROM BELCHERTOWN/LUDLOW/WARE: Take 202 North At sign reading "Shutesbury 1 mile," turn left Follow road several miles to 1st fork, take right, leading toward Leverett. At 2nd fork, take right onto Montague Road in Leverett Center. Go 1.5 miles past Post Office. Shelter is on right side of Road.

NOTE: You will pass a Montague Road in Shutesbury before the 1st fork. This is NOT Montague Road where we are located. FROM POINTS EAST AND WEST: Take the Mass Turnpike to Route 91 North, then follow the directions from Route 91 North (above).

Greenfield Rescue & Rehabilitation Center:

HOURS: Hours by appointment only

From the north or the south: take I-91 to exit 27, Rte 2 east. Travel down Rte 2 until you approach a traffic light and the sign for Rte 2A.
Take a right at the light (French King Highway) onto Rte 2A. The Shelter is approx. 1/2 mile on the left.

From the west: follow the Mohawk Trail until it ends at the rotary. Exit off the rotary onto I-91 north, follow previous directions.

From the east: follow Route 2 West to 2A West. Turn left left onto Rte 2A West (French King Highway). The Shelter is approx. 1/2 mile on the left.
